10 Cleaning Hacks That Will Change Your Life

cleaning hacks

1. A quick and lazy way to clean the microwave oven

Cleaning the microwave oven with plain water is no good. Scrubbing the interior of the microwave with a wet rag does not help either. If the microwave is turning into a garbage can, then all that you need is a solution of water and vinegar. Mix equal volumes of the liquids in a microwave-safe bowl. Boil the solution for 5-10 minutes in the microwave. Open the microwave and scrape off the softened crusts. Wipe its surface with a soft towel to make it squeaky clean.

2.  Keep the cleaning sponge clean

Most people toss out the cleaning sponge when it gets dirty, old, and smelly. But here’s a cleaning hack for you that will save money as well. Microwave the cleaning sponge for about thirty seconds. The heat will kill the bacteria, and the sponge will become as good as new.

3. Clean the window blinds more quickly

It can be pretty challenging to clean the curtains, but this quirky cleaning hack will make it seem like a piece of cake. Take up the same solution that you used to clean the microwave. Wear a sock in your hand and make sure that the sock is thick enough so that the solution does not seep through it. Now dip the socked hand in the solution and scrub the blinds with the socked hand. Get rid of the layers of grime with the vinegar sock.

4. Use baking soda to clean the couches

If the fabric of the couches is giving off a fishy smell, then it is time to make the best use of the age-old but useful baking soda trick. Brush the couch surface to remove the loose dirt and then sprinkle a few tablespoons of baking soda all over the surface. Let the soda settle om the surface for about twenty minutes. Vacuum it all up, and you will see that the weird stains and odours have vanished.

5. Remove the stains of hard water

The most guaranteed cleaning hack for getting rid of hard water stains is to scrub the surface with the juice of citrus fruits. Slice the lemon in half and sprinkle the juicy side of the lemon with kosher salt. Now clean the stained area with the lemon slice. Keep rubbing for a few minutes, and the stain will disappear.

6. Clean the refrigerator

Fill the spray bottle with a solution of water and baking soda and spray at the walls and racks of the fridge. Wipe off with a clean cloth to get rid of the smells and stains.

7. Clean the bathroom tiles regularly

Often the bathroom smells weird because there is water accumulated in the tile cracks. Clean the tiles with a solution of water and vinegar to get rid of the smell and grime.

8. Remove the stubborn stains on dishes

Combine three tablespoons of crushed mustard seeds with a part of baking soda to prepare the dish-washing mixture. Scrub the utensils and dishes with the mixture to get rid of the stains.

9. Get rid of the toilet bowl stains

Coat the toilet bowl with polymerized car wax to get rid of the stains and prevent further staining. Scrub the toilet with white vinegar every month to make sure that the coating of car wax stays clean.

10. Make use of sunlight

Just as you love to bask in the sun, so does the bed linen and almost everything else in your house. So, layout a table and a few chairs in the sunny yard and then spread out the pillows and mattresses under the sun. The musty smell and dirt will fade away with a few hours of sun.
